Safran Engineering Services offers ADS-B STC (Supplemental Type Certificate) for the Bombardier Challenger 601-3A/3R
Safran Engineering Services is offering an Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast Supplemental Type Certificate solution for Bombardier Challenger 601-3A/3R business aircraft. Safran Engineering Services completed the design and FAA certification in 2015.
Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) allows Air Traffic Control to “see” aircraft in real-time using the aircraft’s onboard electronics. It is more accurate and responsive than radar which is a passive system. ADS-B is active surveillance. It is one of the three components of the Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen) initiatives and the only one mandated by the United States. Today, ADS-B is required in Australia and parts of Canada and will soon be required in Western Europe and Eastern Asia.
The ADS-B system developed for the Bombardier Challenger 601-3A/3R will fully integrate with WAAS/LPV capable Honeywell NZ-2000 Flight Management Systems.
The Honeywell NZ-2000 is a well-established, multi-platform system that’s a recognized mainstay in the aviation industry. The development of this Supplemental Type Certificate signifies Safran Engineering Services’ commitment to continue to provide worldwide NextGen solutions.
The Rockwell Collins TDR-94(D) Mode S Transponder will complement this STC to meet equipage requirements of the upcoming FAA ADS-B Out mandate.
Avionics shops and MROs can install ADS-B compliant avionics in CL-601 aircraft by contacting Imam Cella at Safran Engineering Services.
